Presented by Volunteer Lawyers for Justice (VLJ)’s PRIDE Name Change Program, this CLE provides a practical, step-by-step guide to handling legal name changes in New Jersey. The training covers each phase of representation, from reviewing and filing initial pleadings through completing required post-judgment administrative steps.

In addition to procedure, the program highlights client-centered advocacy, including best practices for supporting transgender and nonbinary clients seeking gender-affirming name changes. Attendees will leave with practical tools to confidently manage name change matters—and will have the opportunity to apply these skills by volunteering with VLJ’s pro bono program following the training.
