ABOUT VOLUNTEER LAWYERS FOR JUSTICE

VLJ is a Newark, NJ-based organization providing free civil legal services to people experiencing poverty through nine distinct programs. In 2021, VLJ partnered with over 400 hundred volunteer attorneys who donated more than $2.8 million in services to ensure those with limited financial resources have fair access and representation in the legal system. Last year, VLJ helped 1,563 clients, impacting over 3,300 people, including 1,193 children, with eviction defense, drivers license restoration, criminal record expungement, debt and bankruptcy legal services, family matters, and more.
